Guest Speaker: Paolo Scaroni


Deputy Chairman of Rothschild & Co, Chairman of AC Milan and Giuliani SpA, board member at Ingosstrakh and Columbia Business School, New York. Former CEO of ENI and former CEO of ENEL.
  • Previously CEO and General Manager of ENI (one of the biggest oil companies in the world), for nine years, where he supervised and completed one of the biggest gas exploration and development deal in Venezuela; CEO and COO of ENEL (the 2nd largest power company in the world by revenue). He has been member of the board of Generali Assicurazioni, ABN AMRO NV, BAE Systems plc, Veolia, Alstom SA and has also held management positions in various countries at Saint-Gobain. He obtained an economics degree from Milan’s Bocconi University and a MBA from Columbia Business School.


Guest Speaker: Santiago Fontiveros


Founder and Managing Director at Sucre Energy Group.
  • Mr. Fontiveros is a lawyer from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Venezuela; he did his postgraduate studies at Cass Business School (Honours) and earned a Master’s in Law at NYU, specialising in International Taxation and Finance. His professional experience in oil and gas includes IESA’s International Hydrocarbons Management Program and Universidad Simon Bolivar’s Specialization in Natural Gas Management Program. His work experience spans renowned companies such as Thomson Reuters, Ernst & Young and Capital Elements. Under his leadership, Sucre Energy Group acquired key oil & gas assets in Venezuela from major multinationals in a deal that was nominated the M&A Private Equity Deal of the Year by LatinLawyer Magazine in 2019. Sucre has also successfully negotiated M&A deals and debt issuances worth over $2bn.


Guest Speaker: Mounir Bouaziz


CEO of BEE Enterprise DMCC and former South America and Africa VP for International Upstream and Gas Royal Dutch Shell.
  • Mounir has over 30 years of experience in the oil & gas industry across MENA, South Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa. Previously he held various executive roles in Shell Gas and Power, initially in London, overseeing gas businesses in Latin America, and then in the Middle East. He led Shell’s gas flaring reduction project in Iraq (Basrah Gas Company) after the war. He was appointed VP Upstream International MENA in September 2009, and has since January 2016 been VP South America and Africa. Mounir obtained an Engineering degree from the French Grande Ecole ENSAM (Arts et Métiers ParisTech) and a MBA from Webster University.

  • Prior to founding IlliquidX in 2009, Celestino worked in a number of UK and US financial institutions in London specialised in the trading of distressed, defaulted securities and turnaround/distressed private equity investments across global markets. He started his career in the City of London in 1997 working as a financial engineer modelling FX, fixed interest and swaps derivatives. He holds a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin and a Masters degree in Finance from the London Business School. He is also fluent in Italian and English
