Estados Unidos levantaría sanción al trading de los bonos venezolanos a cambio de la liberación de privados de libertad

The United States would lift sanctions on the trading of Venezuelan bonds in exchange for the release of prisoners

The sanction that prevents the trading (purchase-sale) of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and the Republic bonds in the US market and, consequently, in Europe could be lifted as part of a negotiation being carried out by the government of the United States and the administration of Nicolás Maduro at this time, as confirmed by three sources to HispanoPost.

It is not a secret that a United States government plane landed in Caracas with Rogelio Carstens, special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, and that his mission is to meet with Maduro's team to reach understandings that will allow the relationship between the two countries to be stabilized. . And, above all, seal agreements that guarantee the recovery of democracy in Venezuela. However, it is clear that the advances will continue to be treated with absolute discretion and the greatest secrecy.

The titles of the national oil company and Venezuela were punished after the Treasury Department imposed a sanction so that this type of transaction could not be carried out. This situation only aggravated the default on the external debt that Maduro had already applied in 2017, thus leaving a debt of more than 60 billion dollars in default.

Venezuelan and PDVSA debt bonds have been the subject of a brutal and politicized debate. Officials from what was the interim government even went so far as to threaten large international banks and accuse other members of the opposition of working in favor of the bondholders. Such positions left a bad taste in international markets.

While all this was happening, vulture funds tried to take advantage and costly lawsuits were filed, already aggravating the debt situation started by the late Hugo Chávez and the economic mismanagement of Nicolás Maduro.
